How Hard Could It Be?
It’s only writing every day, how hard could it be? That’s what I’m asking myself as I type this and honestly, I don’t know how hard it could be because I haven’t done it yet.
Sure, I’ve written my share of words throughout my life, but outside of school and a few published stories in recent years, I haven’t been disciplined in my approach to writing… Until now.
This is my weekly blog number 1 out of 52 where I write for at least one hour, minimally edit that writing, and then post it for all the world to see. That’s it. One measly blog post per week for one year. Easy peezy. Probably.
The rules I’ve set for myself are as follows:
- Write for at least one hour per week.
- Edit/review that piece of writing for a maximum of 30 minutes.
- Post the results here.
What I hope to achieve by doing this to myself:
- Structure my writing practice to build sustainable habits.
- A minimum of 52 published works.
- To let go of perfection and produce the work.
To fill out the remainder of this post, I’ll briefly update where I’m at in my running challenge. I am on a 59 day running streak of running at least a 5k every day. The original goal was 5k per day for 30 days, but I have been enjoying it so much that I have maintained the streak and have no imminent plans of stopping. Today I ran 6.38 miles at a pace of 9min 53sec per mile. Not too shabby.
That’s all for blog post number one and I’m hitting post and I’m moving on. Some of these posts, likely most (maybe all?), will be complete shit, but I don’t care. They will get written and posted and that’s the point.
