Beholden To A Word Count

In short, no I’m not holding myself to a certain word count in these posts… I only point that out because this one will be short and I’m making myself feel better about being an unrepentant procrastinator in regards to writing today.

It’s not that I’ve been unproductive so far (it’s 2:04pm as I type this), but I haven’t prioritized writing and that’s something I would like to develop over time. It’s why I’m doing this daily writing.

Any who, no Mulligan on time already spent on other projects so I’ll write in the time I have.

This morning was my first time using the Ice Barrel 500 cold plunge tub. I think I got in at 7am and stayed in for 3 minutes. The water was 44 degrees. I’ll do a more thorough writeup on my cold plunging experience at a later date.

My youngest children, 4 year old twin boys, are in their second week in big boy beds. Also, they no longer share a room as they might murder each other if we left them alone unbound by the bars of the crib. We are in the phase now where they leap out of bed, full of energy for the day, and barge into our room to make sure we’re awake… This happened at 4:15am today. I got up to put them back down and committed myself to sitting on the couch to further enforce that they stay in their rooms. Winston went back to sleep (he’s good sleeper boy), Ashton did not go back to sleep, but he finally stayed in his room and played with his cars and trains. Fine with me as long as you’re in your room and not wandering around the house slamming cabinet doors and jumping on our bed in the wee hours.

I worked from home today which is always nice. I answered the low-hanging fruit in my inbox and completed a few requests that were pending. I even had a meeting (I forgot about it and was 41 minutes late. Oops.).

In between work tasks, I started laying flooring in the new studio space in my basement. I’ll do a thorough write up on this whole process as well. I laid 4 boxes of flooring and I think the concrete subfloor is about 40% covered. I plan to finish this weekend, but life happens so we’ll see.

I am taking Clark to see Deadpool and Wolverine, showtime at 3pm. Tickets are bought and my dad’s going as well. This is the first movie in a few years that I’m excited to see.

Oh, and I got my run in. Today was day 61 in a row of running at least a 5k. I ran 6.23miles in the mid afternoon… In late July… Like a dummy… It was hot, but the run was pretty nice. This run streak, and my overall relationship with running through the years, warrants its own blog post at some point. Things to do things to do, always something to do and write.

Tonight is a long night of comedy. Kam Patterson at LCC for two shows then he’s booked at a local place, Never Say Die Bar, at midnight with some local comedians. I’m looking forward to it as Kam is a very funny rising star and my guys Will McKenzie, Cory Miller, JWal, Jon Bass, and Lucious Williams are set to share the stage with him at various points tonight.

That’s all for today unless I pop in later with something profound.
